I am a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow at the Humanities Research Center at Rice University. I earned my PhD in Anthropology (with an archaeological focus) from the University of Texas at Austin.
Prior to and during my graduate education, I worked for thirteen years as a professional archaeologist on private, nonprofit, and academic research projects in the Yucatan, central Mexico, Honduras, Italy, and throughout the United States.
Outside of academia, I have worked for the literary journal American Short Fiction and the academic journal Cultural Anthropology. I also spent four seasons working in the salmon industry in Alaska.
